Why Invent Your Own Life's Meaning

February 28, 2017

It's possible to invent your own life's meaning.  It's not always easy, but the discovery is well worth it. Life is journey. It's not always perfect.  The obstacles and challenges that you breakthrough, will lead to more freedom, joy, and a natural high that no one can take away from you.

Highlights of  My Story

From Death to Life: My Quest for Excellence

1962 in the City of Angels. I still remember the day my baby sister died. Pain. Sorrow. Loss.  We moved from Los Angeles to Hawaii, our family origins. Disruption. Debt. Fear of Death and Ego fueled my drive to succeed in school and my career to have the "perfect life" as defined by status, power, ideal marriage, and material wealth. This life path was an illusion and I was not my authentic self.

1994. I embarked on my Quest for Excellence. As a single mom, I strive to provide the best for my sons and discover the real me.  It is a difficult and humbling dance (2 steps forward, 1 step back). What I learned is that all the titles, degrees, awards, and certifications do not define me or success. There was still something deep within, like a wounded cat shackled in a dark vault, dying to get out.

Quest for Excellence is a life journey with the ability to give and receive love, faith, trust, and forgiveness; continuous learning, working smarter (not harder); and making a positive difference in my life and the lives of others.

Over the years, I traveled the world and excelled in my career as a senior leader with extensive business experience at the best global and local companies.   Unfortunately, the high points were shadowed by economic downturns resulting in tough assignments as the Human Resource executive dealing with layoffs of good people, including my friends.  Extreme stress and pain.

These experiences compel me to be an advocate for leadership excellence,  continuous learning and growth, and community service. I stress the importance of being a leader-by-example, and the value of investing in personal and professional development. The transferable skills and experience that we gain allow us to thrive in these times of constant economic and technology changes and be a valuable contributor to any employer and other stakeholders.

Since 1999, I envisioned a world-class Global Leadership Center for people to gather from all over the world for holistic learning, reflection, think-tanks, and celebrations of life. I founded CMY Consulting LLC in 2007 and started executing my business-life plan.

2014.  After deep reflection and encouragement from my Coach, Kute Blackson,  I took the leap of faith to devote my attention and  invest my savings into my business. I created and tested EEpath™ and Lead & Live Well™ programs and tried different business alliances.

Some ideas and ventures stick. Some do not.  Entrepreneurship is an iterative process.  I awake everyday filled with gratitude, creativity, and joy.

The simple pleasures in life and being of service to others inspire me to persevere through adversity and live life to the fullest. Many great leaders and mentors, including family and friends, help me become the person I am today. And now is the time to pass the torch and give back.

EEpath™, Lead & Live Well™, and Cynthia (Ching) Yamasaki grow stronger and better with each iteration. I'd love to share more with you.

Let's connect and explore how grand life can be!
